What’s the job?
Silicolife is seeking a highly motivated person for a six-month internship (https://iefponline.iefp.pt/IEFP/medida/estagios-mais-talento/overview.jsp), working directly with the CFO. The main goal will be to consolidate the information that serves as the basis for financial reporting, which is currently scattered across different files and platforms. Every month, there is a need to prepare various reports, such as timesheets, hours per molecule, European projects, among others. The selected person will be responsible for organizing and compiling data from different areas of the company, contributing to more efficient management. Additionally, the implementation of automations is desired to reduce the time spent preparing information and simultaneously decrease the risk of errors associated with manual interventions.
This job also requires initiative and a passion for continuous improvement. It is an opportunity for those looking to contribute to the efficiency and modernization of the company. This position is also expected to help in the development, testing and integration of the software stack, consisting of new or existing software components from the company and partners, on top of the architected infrastructure.
Responsibilities
The selected candidate will work in close cooperation with the Director of Engineering and the CFO (owner of the corresponding project) and her/his duties involve the following:
Interact with different APIs and file formats
Break down the problem into parts to be automatized in software modules
Create a modular and flexible system that allows for the future development of a platform integrating all developed modules for pipeline executions, and enables the future development of a visualization dashboard through an intuitive front-end
Collaborate with the finance team to understand their reporting needs and translate them into automated solutions
Assist in the preparation and consolidation of monthly financial reports by automating data collection and processing tasks
Maintain and update existing scripts and tools to ensure they remain effective and efficient
Provide support and training to finance team members on using new tools and systems
Continuously seek opportunities to improve and streamline financial reporting processes through automation and innovation
Requirements
The candidate’s skills and qualifications will ideally include:
BSc or MSc level in computer science or related disciplines with a programming component
Consolidated knowledge in computer science and data management tools
Experience in Excel and ease in handling different file formats
Ability to learn quickly and work collaboratively with the finance team to understand their needs and translate them into technical solutions
Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
Willingness to learn new technologies and tools as needed
Team player with strong interaction skills
Nice to haves
Previous experience in programming languages (Bash, Python, Java, or R)
Experience with databases (relational or others)
Good knowledge of the English language
